14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Galatians 6:14 English Standard Version

Christians can too often measure their spiritual life by how much they have sacrificed and given up for God and His Kingdom, rather than by how much they have received and enjoyed from the Lord. Instead of boasting in their fleshy works and self-effort, the Apostle Paul boasted in the accomplishments of Christ’s finished work on the Cross.

We cannot underestimate or underrate the power of the gospel.

When we fail to value what we have been given and take possession of every blessing in Christ, we don’t experience the full reality of His unsearchable riches. Then we reduce the Christian life incorrectly into trying to earn God’s grace through our man-made standards instead of resting on our right standing with God.

What did Paul mean when he said: “the world has been crucified to him and he to the world?” He was not looking for external opinions or allowed them to define his place and position in Christ. Paul was convinced that he had been justified by grace through faith, and it freed him from the Judaizers who were opposing the gospel he preached.

Beware of those who seek to impose their own legalistic views and values on you. They’d love to put you in a theological box they created — giving them comfort in how you might fit in, complying with their rules and restrictions.

But the Cross has given you freedom to discover the radiant and radical life of Christ, and His grace to experience it wholly. Avoid walking under condemnation and shame just because you feel you have not done enough for God or live in the condemnation of your past wrongs. You are not the answer to your salvation or healing, but Christ is.

Whenever you stumble in your Christian life, it is alright as long as you keep stumbling forward towards Christ. God who began His good work in you is faithful to complete and perfect you in Christ.

God is faithful to make all things possible for you so only believe.

Do you place a higher value on church traditions and practices than the gospel of Jesus Christ?
